In 2018, Probos and Face the Future developed a calculation tool that enables Rijkswaterstaat to estimate CO₂ sequestration from roadside plantings and forest plots. After one year, user feedback was collected, and adjustments were made to improve the tool’s user-friendliness.
At the request of Rijkswaterstaat, the tool is now being expanded with new reference values, allowing for the inclusion of CO₂ stocks in grassland, shrubland, and soil in the calculations. Additionally, emission factors related to machinery use are being added to the tool. Finally, several calculation and conversion factors are being updated.
