International data provision

Probos acts as the national correspondent for Forest and Timber Statistics on behalf of the Netherlands for various European reports and surveys.

These activities largely stem from the National data provision, but are also based on external data sources. In this context, Probos works closely with organizations such as Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and the Royal Netherlands Timber Trade Association (VVNH).

The topics that are reported on range from trade in timber products to biodiversity in our forests.

Enquête/rapportage Beschrijving

State of Europe’s Forests (SoEF)

 Information about forests and the ecological, economic, and social dimensions of sustainable forest management in the pan-European region.

Global Forest Resource Assessment (FRA)

Report on the extent of forest (resources), their condition, management, and utilization.

Joint Forest Sector Questionnaire (JFSQ)

Data on the global timber market, from production to trade.

Joint Wood Energy Enquiry (JWEE)

Data on the production, use, and origin of energy wood.

European Forest Accounts (EFA)

Economic aspects of forests, such as the value and use of wood, from standing stock to processing by the wood industry.

OECD Environment Statistics (OECD)

Information on forest resources and biodiversity (e.g., number of threatened species).

Timber Forecast questionnaire (TFQ)

Data on the timber market and future developments.

Market Statement voor de Committee
on Forests and the Forest Industry (COFFI)

Reports on the market and market trends for coniferous and broadleaved timber, respectively.
